Why Choose Christian Brothers?
Serving Fremont and the Rest of Newaygo County
We cover Fremont from the Branstrom Park neighborhoods to the properties ringing Fremont Lake and the parcels out along W 72nd Street and M-82. Fremont is the largest city in Newaygo County and sits in the middle of our northern route. Crews run south to Grant and Casnovia, east to Newaygo and White Cloud, and north toward Howard City.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you serve my part of Fremont?
We cover the City of Fremont and the surrounding townships, plus Grant, Newaygo, White Cloud, Casnovia, and Howard City. Our shop is in Grant, so most of Newaygo County sits inside a comfortable radius. City services, parks, and event schedules are on the City of Fremont website.
Does the sandy soil around Fremont change what my lawn needs?
Usually. Much of Newaygo County sits on light, fast-draining ground, so water and nutrients move through the root zone quicker than they would in clay. Lawns here tend to do better on lighter, more frequent feeding and steadier watering through July and August. The MSU Extension office on W 72nd Street sells soil test kits if you want to see what you have.
When does the lawncare season start and end here?
Most Fremont accounts run April through November, depending on the thaw. Spring cleanup comes first, then mowing once the grass is growing. Fall cleanup wraps up through leaf drop in late October and November.
Can you work native plants into my landscaping?
Yes, as part of a new installation or into beds you already have. The Newaygo Conservation District runs its tree nursery and native plant sale out of Rex Street here in Fremont, which is a good place to look at species before we design. They also handle invasive species identification, which comes up on wooded lots.
